Fill your half-gallon glass jar with cold water. Add two family-sized tea bags and mix. Feel free to mix and match the flavors.
Cover with a lid and set in a sunny location for 2-3 hours. The amount of time will depend on several factors like the temperature, the size of your jar, how many tea bags you use, and how strong you want the tea to be.
Check the sun tea every 30 minutes or so. Once it has reached the desired color and flavor, remove the tea bags. Gently squeeze the liquid from the bags before discarding.
Sweeten the tea if desired using sugar, honey, etc. You can also add fresh fruit or other ingredients to flavor your tea.
Keep any remaining sun tea in the refrigerator and consume within one day. (See note below about safety concerns.)
Notes
*According to the CDC, sun tea can create bacteria growth. They recommend using boiling water or making refrigerator tea instead (recipe above). However, sun tea has been made for generations without issues so you do you!
